Gauges
WE HAVE IT ALL, AND THEN SOME!
Gauges are an incredibly important component of any industrial piping system, providing advance warning of key issues regarding internal and external pressure on the system and the temperature of the media it’s carrying, which could result in faster wear on your system or more immediate and serious leaks and failures.
With that in mind, we stock a wide range of high-quality gauges in several sizes, and they fall into four main categories: blow out, pressure, vacuum, and temperature.
Types
Blow Out Gauges
Blow out gauges, also known as process gauges, are used to measure relative pressure, generally for piping systems used by the oil and gas industry. They’re often an early warning sign to help prevent serious failures in those systems, which are often dangerous and would definitely require operations shutdowns to repair.
Our blow out gauges have a black, fibreglass-reinforced, thermoplastic case and are accurate to +/-0.5%. We stock them with a 4-inch, liquid-filled face with stainless steel materials, and they’re designed with a stress-reducing bourdon tube design, which helps minimize wear. These gauges are suitable for systems carrying gases or liquids, and they can withstand corrosive atmospheres and pressure pulsation and vibration.
Pressure Gauges
Pressure gauges are one of the most common gauges in piping systems and are used for everything from petrochemical plants and oil refineries to pressure washers and air compressors. They can be either digital or dial gauges, depending on your preference, and they’re used to measure or monitor the internal pressure of piping systems carrying a variety of media, including liquids and gases.
We carry pressure gauges with either 2 ½ -inch or 4-inch silicone-filled dial faces, in a 304 stainless steel case that can withstand corrosive environments. We have various bottom and back mounted connection options that range in size, including 1/8-inch, ¼-inch, and ½-inch NPTs.
Vacuum Gauges
Vacuum gauges are identical in construction to pressure gauges, but instead of measuring internal pressure on the system, they’re designed to measure vacuum pressure, which is any pressure less than normal atmospheric pressure. Rather than measuring in PSI as our pressure gauges do, vacuum gauges will use “inHg” as the unit of measure, which stands for inches of mercury.
Temperature Gauges
Temperature gauges are used to measure temperature and generally fall into one of two categories: contact gauges, which require physical contact with the object being sensed, and non-contact gauges, which measure ambient temperature and are much more common. They can have either digital or dial gauges, and most of them come with a probe of various lengths.
The temperature gauges that we carry have a 304 stainless steel case, and they come in face sizes that include 1 ½ inches, 2 inches, 2 ½ inches, 3 inches, and 4 inches as well as the connection sizes: 1/8-inch ¼-inch, and ½-inch NPT.
Why Corestock?
Need some extra documentation for your systems? We can order gauges with Certificates of Calibration (COC) for you. Calibration dictates how accurate a measuring device, like a gauge, is. In our case, we determine the measuring deviate of the gauge and document the difference in the calibration certificate. This is a trusted measuring result with traceability to international standards, and the certificate guarantees the accuracy of the gauge.
Aside from being reliably accurate, gauges also need to be able to consistently endure extreme environments to accurately measure them, even when they start to reach beyond what your system might ordinarily handle. Your safety is important to us, so we work hard to stock the most reliable gauges we can find for the most common use cases. However, if you need something that we don’t keep in inventory, we’re happy to source gauges that will suit your exact needs and those of your piping system.
